Xiaoyang Wang (08/2024 – present)
Xiaoyang is a PhD student in the ECE department at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on dynamics modeling of large electronic loads, learning-based control and data-driven coordination of large-scale inverter-based resources in power systems. Prior to joining TAMU, he obtained both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University.
Yihan Wen (08/2025 – present)
Yihan is a first-year PhD student in the ECE department at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on developing large langugae model (LLM)-based AI agents for intelligent automated power system planning and operation. Prior to joining TAMU, he obtained his bachelor’s degrees in Digital Media Technology from Dalian University of Technology.
Haowen Xu (08/2025 – present)
Haowen is a first-year PhD student in the ECE department at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on developing novel optimization and control methods for high renewable energy penetration power systems. Prior to joining TAMU, he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University.
Pedro Salazar-Garcia (08/2025 – present)
Pedro is a PhD student in the ECE department at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on optimization of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) hosting capacity and service restoration strategies under uncertainty. Prior to joining TAMU, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and an Associate’s in Science from Des Moines Area Community College.
Matt Lee (06/2025 – present)
Matt is a first-year MS student in the Texas A&M Energy Institute. He has over a decade of industry experience spanning test and measurement, software engineering, and design, including a couple of energy industry startups. His research lies in the planning, optimization, and economic analysis of large AI and computing loads in power systems. He earned his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Joseph Nasser (09/2023 – present)
Joseph is a second-year MS (Thesis) student in the ECE department at Texas A&M University. He has nine years of experience in Texas’ power grid across operations, trading, planning, and strategy, with a total of 14 years of industry experience. He holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Finance from University of Houston, and a CFA designation. His research involves using high-resolution weather data modeling to improve forecasting nodal renewable energy generation using Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
